Starcade is Per Sterud, born in Sweden in 1972, raised in the United States, currently residing in Northern Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C.

Was brought up on ABBA, the Bee-Gees, Star Wars and miscellaneous '70s radio.

In the '80s became thoroughly entrenched in arcade and console gaming, D&D, radio and MTV.

Started writing music in the late '80s. Spent much of the '90s writing largely New Wave-derived electronic pop songs, some instrumentals, some with lyrics. Major influences were The Stranglers, Duran Duran, Icehouse, Talk Talk, Art of Noise, The Fixx and The Police.

Discovered IDM in 1997. Discovered psychedelic electronic music soon thereafter.

Largely quit music from 1999 to 2005 and painted instead as an outlet, among other things. Was meanwhile obsessively absorbing electronic music of all kinds, and even DJed a little.

Discovered the digital audio workstation in late 2005. In 2006, Starcade was born, with the goal of creating melodic and rhythmic electronic music with integrity and authenticity, to tell a story and, hopefully, uplift and transport the soul.
